5 star review of The Italian By Elaine Coffman

The ItalianThe Italian by Elaine Coffman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it! The author was very knowledgeable about life during these war times and I felt that I learned all kinds of things as well as enjoyed a wonderfully awesome and heart pounding story. I was on the edge of my seat numerous times wondering what was happening. It never let my blood pressure stay at normal that was for sure.

5 Star review of Mactus By Emily Guido

Wow! I was loving these two at the end of the first book but now, I am loving them even more. In this book, Charmeine and Tabbruis are given the surprise of their lives as memories of their past love come to the surface. Some memories are good, while others reveal their ordeal may be far from over. Can they complete the dark task that has been set before them and once again be what they once where to each other? I definitely recommend this book as well as the first to anyone who loves a good deep story of love that can overcome any distance and any force imposed upon it.

Indie Author Interveiw of Danile Quentin Steele Author of When We were Married-Volume 1 and 2

The Author

Daniel Quentin Steele

 The Masterpeice
“When We Were Married- Volume 1 – The Long Fall.”

Where he Creates
 Jacksonville, Florida
What Genre gets to claim him?
 Mainstream contemporary,  legal/crime, adult romance.
In Daniel's own words, this book is about?
The book is about the marriage of a dedicated and obsessed Florida prosecutor and his gorgeous university professor wife and what happens after their marriage crashes and burns. It’s about how two middle-aged people try to make new lives for themselves while protecting the public from monsters and murderers and maintaining an academic career. It’s got love and pain and betrayal and very hot and explicit  married sex and unmarried sex and murder and mayhem and drug cartels and killer cops and assassins and good bad guys and bad good guys.
His muse can change it's mind from time to time:
I sit down and write. Usually I start with a central idea or scene, often the ending, and in the case of short stories or shorter works I write as hot and fast as I can. In the  case of this novel, I started with a snatch of conversation that grew into a 25,000 word first chapter, then grew and developed. I knew from the end of the first chapter roughly how the novel would end but it started to jell after about the third chapter. I’m 350,000 words in with two volumes of a story done and I have the ending pretty well nailed down but there’s room for changes as I go along. But I’ve never done an actual outline or synopsis.
Daniel did everything himself but got the cover art from a friend.
Who is his favorite author. Not just someone that he read allot. I wanna know whose book he read that made him suddenly know, if he didn't do this for the rest of his life then he would never be happy.
Roger Zelazy – Lord of Light among others
What he finds the most challenging:
Rewriting.
Does he write his characters or do they write themselves through Daniel?
I tend to think I’m writing them, but since I also tend to write from my subconscious,  all the characters are in some way facets of myself or people I’ve known.
Does he ever write himself into the characters?
Almost always in one way or another.
Is writing his full time job or is he "Keeping his day job"? So to speak.
It’s my full time job.
If Daniel could go back in time and meet one famous person or legend in history, who would it be?
Leonardo Da Vinci
There are millions of new books released every year. What in his mind makes his stand out from all those millions in his genre?
The characters. The novel(s) have a lot of plot and a lot things going on, with suspense stretching over four volumes, but it’s the characters according to readers that have grabbed and held their attention. The male lead is an arrogant, stubborn, insecure asshole and the wife is an untrustworthy and entirely too vain bitch. According to readers who loved the story. But over time readers’ views of the characters change. The characters don’t change, you’re just able to see their history and their hearts as no one can outside of a novel.
In the world of Indie, marketing is very difficult, especially if you don't have the funds to pay for it. Has Daniel found a great free way to market his work that he thinks other Indies will benefit from?
Not really. I wrote a good chunk of my novels online and developed a readership that way. It didn't cost me a dime, but it took a year and a half out of my life. And since that time, I’ve swapped reviews with other writers. I don’t expect or require positive reviews, and I’ve given ‘tempered’ reviews. If I hate a book, I just won’t review it and I had one writer whose book I liked drop mine because he just couldn’t get into it. Cooperative efforts as far as Facebook or ‘liking’ on Amazon aren’t a bad way to spend your marketing time.

If this doesn’t make you want to read about “The ‘2nd Hottest Woman in the Jacksonville, Florida courthouse,”  you’re probably dead from the waist down or the other way.

Indie Author Interview with H.K Taylor www.amazom.com/dp/B00B1KMTPW

The Artist
H.K. Taylor

Where he creates
I’m from Pratt City Alabama

What genre gets to claim him
I write mainly young adult romance/young adult paranormal romance

Getting down to business
Heat is about 17 year old Troy Parker who falls for Jaime Stone. They hit it off, everything goes well until Troy’s friend dies, and this sudden death threatens Troy’s life and relationship. If I was reading or had read it to a friend I’d say the author is young, and creative, but has a lot to learn with a bright future ahead of him.
I honestly, just brainstorm the ideas in my head then convert them to paper; I do follow guidelines mostly though.

H.K. wants the world to know about Heat!
Yes, with Heat I feel it has to be told, I want people to read it and fall in love with what I created this; writing, being an author is my present and future I want nothing else. (Career Wise)

Who we thanks for the look of heat
My cover designer for Heat is Laura Wright Laroche follow her on twitter @WrightLaroche, and my editor that taught me the basics and helped so much to mold Heat into what it is now is Lissette Manning, follow her on twitter @xLizzieBethx

H.K. knew he wanted to write when he read:
Stephanie Meyer (sorry Mrs. Hill, love you still) Meyer’s twilight made me think to myself that I can do this for the rest of my life, that any dream can be achieved as an author. Her storytelling and writing creativity were the keys to my inspiration.

What he finds the most difficult:
The thing I find most challenging in my writing is coming up with the title weird huh?

H.K.'s muse just kind of takes over.
My characters write themselves through me, they’ve been doing this since I first put pen to paper a few months ago, and I couldn’t be happier. They have an individual story, I just write it for them.

Does he ever write himself into the characters?
No I try my hardest to never project myself into my characters, they have qualities I wish I had, but that’s it, it is challenging though.

This is his day job.
It’s my full time job I have Cerebral palsy on my right side, so I’m limited when it comes to most jobs.

If H.K. had a time machine, he'd make the most of it.
Definitely I’d want to meet Tupac A. Shakur, he was the greatest rapper of his generation, and was an intelligent man; he knew what he stood for.

H.K. knows this book will stand out.
Honestly, I’d have to say the message it conveys, won’t spoil it.

H.K. has found a home among Indies who have helped him.

Ungrateful people on Twitter and how I hate it.

So I saw a tweet that said to Download or donate to help this dude out. I RT'ed because I'm broke (Since Birth.) and can't afford to donate or download so I figured I'd help spread the word. This is the Tweet I got back:

@nicolehill17 Please donate or download and stop using the tweets as a hot potato!

Seriously? Um, Are you fucking kidding me? That was so fucking rude! How do you expect to get anywhere with and attitude like that? I was trying to help! And I have over 4,000 more followers that you do so I might have been able to get your music out there but not now!

Also is the point of twitter to get as many to RT your stuff as possible? At least from a marketing prospective.

I will be UNFOLLOWING and it's nice to know I will no longer have to risk Twitter jail on your account. Thanks for taking that care from me and good luck with alienating anyone trying to help you.

I hate it when people judge you by something you post!

I tweeted about this story yesterday and received a tweet that I decided takes a blog post to answer. I'll post the story below and then my answer. Just so you guys know what I'm talking about.

A pregnant rape victim in Turkey shot and decapitated her attacker then left his severed head in the square of her local village.  The woman, five months pregnant, is demanding authorities let her have an abortion even though she is way beyond the ten week limit allowed for terminations in Turkey.
When police arrested her near to the severed head she said; 'That is the head of one who toyed with my honor.' Womens' groups in Turkey have praised her as a heroine.  It turned out that the woman, aged 26 and a mother-of-two, had been abused by her attacker for months before she took her revenge and was being blackmailed.
The woman has reportedly even said she is prepared to die as long as she is allowed to have the abortion.
The rapist had taken nude photos of her and threatened to send them to her parents unless she continued sleeping with him.
She took a gun and shot him ten times, several times in his private parts, before cutting off his head and hurling it into the village square at Yalvac.
The man was also reportedly stabbed in the abdomen after he was shot.
'He kept saying that he would tell everyone about the rape,' she reportedly said during her testimony. 'My daughter will start school this year.
'Everyone would have insulted my children. Now no one can. I saved my honor,' she added.
'They will now call my children the kids of the women who saved her honor.'

So. I posted this yesterday with the caption "You go girl." And received a tweet that said

"how can you condone and even glorify this?!"

I hate when you are judged by something you post by others.

I never judge others points of view.
I obviously don't know what in their lives might have happened to them to make them see things that way.

This tweet came from a man and I don't want to say that men are less understanding but sometimes it sure seems that way.

So I'll tell ya how I can Condone and even glorify this. First of all, Women everywhere in this country and others are raped everday and in some countries, nothing is ever done about it. In some, the man has his finger cut off while the woman is stoned to death because she is now considered spoiled and unfit for any man. In others, the women are shunned or looked down upon and their children are looked down upon because of it. In this case, the man held the woman aginst her will for over five months. What would you do if you were raped and blackmailed for over five months! people are saying she should rot but imagine what your mental process would be like after that long of rape and torture.. And it was mental torture weather he beat her or not. She was probably half crazy by the time she did this. If this happened to a woman here, everyone would be screaming temporary insanity. Why is it different for a woman there? You don't know what her thought process was like after five months of this. She might have literally saw him as a demon or the devil or something. The mind is very tricky when it has been bent and broken to someone else's will. She also had a daughter. How do we know she wasn't afraid he would get bored with her and move on to her daughter. He told her for over five months that she had to sleep with him or he would show pictures he'd taken during the various rapes and everyone would pick on her children. That is mental torture. Here, if a man constantly puts a woman down, it is considered mental abuse and he can be jailed. I obviously would not condone this in America because we have a justice system that does not put blame on the victim. BUT, I would not judge an American woman who did this because as a woman who has been through a very long time of sexual abuse and survived, I will tell you that there were plenty of time during those years that I thought about cutting the bastard up into tiny pieces. I didn't but the thoughts were still there. I don't know what I would have done if I had children at that time and was afraid for their lives or future. I probably would have done something similar just because I would have been pissed that my children saw these things. I would have wanted them to remember that yes, their momma was tortured and raped but that she took that bastard down before it was over with. And they probably saw. Don't fool yourself. Do you think the rapist was nice enough to wait for the children to be asleep before he brutalized their mother? So yes, when I see a woman commit an act of heroism and handle her business, I will scream from the roof tops: "You go girl!" and that's my First Amendment Right! At least it still is for now.

"I know what you are." Teaser from Legacy Forgotten By Nicole Hill

I hope you weren't talking to me.” A voice came from beside her and she popped her eyes open. Right next to her, leaning and arm on the wall like some high school jock talking to a cheerleader or something was a blond headed pretty boy Vampire. Jesus, they sure are taking over around here. She thought to herself.
Who the hell are you?” Ailis asked rudely. She did not have time for this shit.
The Vampire leaned into her and sniffed her slowly. “I know what you are.” He told her seductively. “We are going to have so much fun together, you and I.” He purred.
Ailis suddenly felt like an animal being inspected for slaughter. Evidently, she was passing some sort of test that she was pretty sure she had no desire to pass. She shoved at his chest and he stepped back allowing her the chance to get her back away from the wall. They were now standing facing each other, while their backs faced each end of the alley. At least now, Ailis could move a bit if need be. “What are you talking about psycho?” She asked defiantly.
I'm not turning over this lusciousness. I'll keep you for myself.” He purred as he reached out and squeezed her left breast to the point of pain. It was a gut reaction, Ailis didn't even think about it. She pulled back and gave him a right hook to the left side of his face. The Vamp stumbled back, his hand to his face. He righted himself and looked at her. His left cheek bone healed where she'd shattered it as she watched. “Damn. That actually hurt like hell.” He chuckled before his face turned serious. “You will pay for that Your Majesty.” He said menacingly. Before Ailis knew it, he was right in front of her. He pulled his right hand back and hit her in the sternum, causing her to fly backward through the air toward the back of the alley. She called the twins to her as she flew and they appeared in her hands just as her back slammed into the wall with a painful thud. As she slid down the wall to the ground, she unloaded both clips of silver bullets into the Vampire. They caused him to jerk with each impact but that was it. When her butt hit the ground, she ignored the pain everywhere and jumped back up to face the Vampire.

Guest Blog Post By Author Miranda Stork In honor of the release of Erin

Is People Watching Really That Nosy?

I’m not sure if some of the rest of you do this, but I LOVE to people watch. The Italians do it constantly, and I think they have it right. Now before you freak out on me and start screaming “STALKER!”, just let me explain.

Where I’m sat at the moment, I’m looking out of my study window to outside our cottage. Our cottage happens to sit along the route for the Cleveland Coast-to-Coast walk. It’s a beautiful walk that runs from the Irish Sea at St Bees to the North Sea at Robin Hood’s Bay, and is around 192 miles. It passes through three national parks and really is something that everyone should do at least once. Well, I get an awful lot of walkers coming past my window on this long walk, some of them from as far afield as Australia and America. All of them look very different, some of them wearing thick coats, others with an MP3 player plugged in their ears.

And when I’m running dry on what to write on the screen in front of me, I like to look out of the window and try to restart my brain once more. And when someone walks past in their little group, I like to make up a story for them, if they look interesting. I’ll give you an example, which will probably also give you a little insight into how my mind works. (You have been warned.)

A lady just went past on her own, apart from her group, carrying a heavy pack on her back, and wearing no coat, despite the weather being a little cooler today. She has wrap-around shades on, and looks as though she is concentrating very heavily on something. so, to build a story for her, I begin to ask some questions.

Why is she walking on her own? Perhaps she has fallen out with the group. Perhaps she thinks they are not taking the walk seriously. Yes, I think it’s that one, looking at how they are laughing and taking their time, but she looks like she is thinking of nothing else.

Why isn’t she wearing a coat? It could be as simple as she is too warm, but it really is cold today. Maybe it’s because she wants to feel the cold-yes, she is punishing herself in some way. Which leads to the question-

Why is she doing this walk? She doesn’t look as though she is enjoying it much. This is where I really use some artistic licence. From the way she looks, and is concentrating, she is heavily driven. Perhaps she has always been driven, and used to work in a high-flying job in an advertising agency or such. She had a wonderful grandmother who had brought her up since she was ten. The reason she is so driven is because her parents were very poor, and died when she was young. She never wanted to feel that way again, so her life became about money. Her grandmother was sad to see this. Her grandmother recently died, and her last words to her grand-daughter were, “Life is about more than money. You must experience life. You must do more with your life.” The lady spent several weeks crying in secret and grappling with this after her death, and eventually had a break-down at work, forcing her company to put her on extended leave. She made her mind up to follow what her grandmother asked of her, and made up a list of all the great things she could think of to do. So one of those things is to do this work, and her thoughts are constantly on her grandmother.

So now we have a story for this lady. We can give her a name…erm….Linda. And now she will at some point become a character in a book of mine. (Seriously, no-one pinch this, I will use it, and I’ll know where you got it from. Then I will hunt you down and beat you with…a KIPPER!)

And that is how I sometimes build my most interesting characters. So if you ever see me staring at you on the bus or at a coffee shop, don’t freak out, it’s only because you’re about to become that strange fey-like creature in my book that grows fangs. Nothing to worry about at all.

So how do you build your characters? Is it as weird(nosy) as this? Or do you have another method?

Here is the info on Erin! Been waiting forever for this one!

Erin is the werewolf Queen of Athol Castle. She has no memories of the events of a few months ago, where she believed herself to be a psychologist, and met the enigmatic and charming Conner...

Filtiarn has taken over Conner’s body once more, and is relishing being in control. Cruel and sensual, he decides to work on a plan...to take over humanity. He begins a war...of werewolves against humans. But unknown to him, Conner is fighting against him within his own body, to set things right, and to bring Erin back from her own darkness. He tries to undo a great mistake from long ago, using Erin’s famed sword, Sioctine, as remnants of his own memory come back to him, opening up the present he now lives in.

At the same time, another enemy is using the situation to their advantage, following the werewolves at every turn, threatening to undo everything that Conner is struggling to obtain...

But will he be able to bring Erin back from Filtiarn’s grasp, or is it too late? And will he be able to stop the war against the humans progressing?

And who is threatening to take over not only the humans, but the werewolves as well?
